With 184 and villas, including 30 Jacuzzi water villas that just opened in late 2010, the Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa is one of the larger private-island resorts in the Maldives. This is an all-inclusive property where guests can choose from meals-only or a “plus” plan that also includes alcohol and extras. In either case, this is one of the more affordable and best-value overwater villa resorts in the Maldives.
The water villas each come with their own private Jacuzzi plus many extras, so they are ideal for a honeymoon or anniversary trip. There is a wide range of daytime activities plus a fair bit of nightlife available, so those who prefer to be active will have many choices, while those looking for a secluded bit of tropical paradise can keep to themselves quite easily.
The Vilamendhoo Island Resort is located on its own island in the North Ari Atoll, 80 kilometers southwest of the Malé International Airport.

The over-the-water Duniye Spa provides a tropical spa experience for women and men, focused on wholeness, simplicity, purity and quality.
To reach the Vilamendhoo Island Resort you’ll first fly to Malé International Airport. From there you’ll be greeted by resort staff and helped aboard a sea plane for the 25-minute flight to Vilamendhoo Island and the hotel itself.
Reviews for the Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa are very positive, particularly the ones for those who visited after the late-2010 refurbish and addition of the water villas. Guests find the house reef and the diving/snorkeling to be among the best in the Maldives. In fact, the snorkeling is one of the most talked about aspects of the resort, with many guests raving over and over again about it.
There was some confusion over the rate plans, as they offer a full-board as well as an all-inclusive-plus plan, the first of which is only good for meals, and the latter includes alcohol and other extras. Some guests thought they were on the more inclusive plan and were disappointed, but most agree that this resort offers excellent value all things considered.
