Offering 41 water villas, including 6 water villas that feature pools, the Sun Siyam Vilu Reef, which was formally known as the Sun Aqua Vilu Reef, is a 4-star hotel that houses 80 additional rooms on the island, making it one of the larger water-villa resorts in the Maldives. If you're looking for an all in one package, you'll find that the all-inclusive meal plans here are popular, though other options are available as well.
With room rates situated well below average for the Maldives, the Vilu Reef offers a good value, especially with the all-inclusive plans. There's a long list of activities and excursions available to sort through and partake in, although it should be noted that there are fewer dining options than most nearby resorts of this size. The larger water villas are enormous, including the 2-bedroom Presidential Water Suite that has both a pool and jacuzzi of its own.
The Sun Siyam Vilu Reef Resort is located on Meedhuffushi Island in South Nilandhe Atoll, 128km south of Male’ International Airport.

To reach the Sun Aqau Vilu Reef Resort you’ll first fly to Malé International Airport. From there you’ll be greeted by resort staff and helped aboard a sea plane for the 35-minute flight to Meedhuffushi Island and the hotel itself.
Reviews for the Sun Aqua Vilu Reef Resort are generally very positive, which is quite encouraging considering this is among the more affordable water-villa resorts in the Maldives. The setting gets high marks, as do the large water villas themselves. The views are also mentioned in most of the reviews as being spectacular.
A few people have noted that the food in the all-inclusive buffet restaurant may not be up to 4-star standards, although at these prices it would be surprising if the buffet restaurant had a Michelin star. With that said, there are many who rave about the food, so it seems to be more about personal preference. Overall the resort gets very good grades, and appears to be very good value in the region.
