Most people consider the Maldives as a destination best suited for honeymoons and romantic trips, but you might be surprised to hear that it’s also extremely popular with families. Out of the nearly 80 water villa resorts in the Maldives, a few dozen have special “Kids’ Clubs” specifically built and staffed for the young ones in your group.
You’ll find that most of these resorts also have swimming pools and tennis courts alongside the available beach and water sports, so a range of ages can have a trip they’ll never forget, leaving the parents some time on their own, as well.
With great excitement, El Dorado Maroma, a resort located in the Riviera Maya, Mexico, announced that the construction of 30 overwater bungalows is currently taking place with an opening date of September 1st, 2016.
These water villas will join 128 on-land accommodation options as well as the existing restaurants, bars and resort activities. Once open, these will be the first overwater bungalows in the Cancun area, unless you include the Rosewood Mayakoba Resort just north of Playa del Carmen.
It may be hard to believe, but there actually are a few golf courses situated on a few islands in the Maldives. The ones that are currently open are on the small side, but they are definitely better than nothing for someone who likes to mix in at least a bit of golf during their sunny holiday.
Two pitch & putt courses (6 holes and 9 holes) have been operating for a while now, and a longer course with 9 holes that average 123 yards has just recently opened within the last few years.
Because of its popularity, you’ll find that Bora Bora is easily considered to be one of the most beautiful tropical destinations you could visit. Part of the island’s appeal is both the remoteness and solitude that it offers, which will serve you very well, especially if you’re traveling to the region for a honeymoon trip. With this said, the downside with being so remote is that Bora Bora is not a place that can be reach quickly or, cheaply for that matter, unless you are already in French Polynesia to began with.
Once you finally arrive in the beautiful Maldives, you’ll feel as though you’ve found a tropical paradise, especially at your overwater bungalow resort. Spread over an extremely large area just southwest of India, The Maldives is located thousands of kilometers from Europe, and even quite a long way from the Middle East, as well.
Thankfully, you’ll find that there are many flights that venture to the Malé International Airport from all over the globe, making it so that most people will only have to change planes one time during their trip.
the most famous overwater bungalows in the South Pacific are those in French Polynesia, there are others farther to the west that are worth consideration. Vanuatu is a group of islands located north of New Zealand and northeast of Australia, making it a popular holiday location for people from those countries.
Though it’s not part of French Polynesia, this is another country the French claimed in the late 19th Century, but the British did as well so both French and English are commonly spoken, especially at resorts.
This week we are featuring a unique “couples resort” located on its own private island just off the coast of Belize. St. George’s Caye Resort has 6 over-the-water-cabanas, as they call them, which share a semi-circle pier out over the Caribbean sea. There are six other rooms located on the island itself and that’s it, and if you have a group of the right size you can rent the entire island out yourself.
