Along with the Anantara Veli Resort on a nearby island, the Anantara Dhigu Resort & Spa is one of the finest 5-star hotels in the Maldives. They offer 40 overwater villas and suites along with 70 additional beach villas and suites, making this an unusually large luxury complex.
The setting is stunning, and the infinity-edge bathtub-for-two in each of the overwater suites and villas makes for unforgettable memories of a holiday in paradise. There are 5 different restaurants plus 4 more just a short and free water taxi ride away, so there's little chance of getting bored with the food. In addition there is a wide array of water sports and activities available, so while this is an ideal honeymoon resort, it's also well suited to active types as well.
This resort is family-friendly, so take that into account
It may not be obvious at first, but this resort is just across the shallow lagoon from a sister resort called Anantara Veli. Both are excellent and guests at both resorts can enjoy the amenities at both, however, there is one main difference. The Anantara Dhigu Resort is larger and it has a Children's Club among many other water sports and amenities, while the Anantara Dhigu is smaller and is primarily a romantic couples resort.
Another way of saying it is that if you are the sort of guest who prefers a resort where there are no children then you'll be happier at Anantara Veli. But if you enjoy being around children, particularly during the school holiday periods, then this is the better choice, whether you are a romantic couple or a family.
The Anantara Dhigu Resort & Spa is located 21 kilometers south of the main island of Malé in the Maldives.

Anantara Spa Dhigu is located in overwater suites and offers full 5-star service and many massage and treatment options.
To reach the Anantara Dhigu Resort & Spa you’ll need to fly to the main Malé International Airport in the Maldives. From there you’ll be met by hotel staff who will put you on a private speedboat for the 35-minute ride to the small island where the resort lies.
As one of the Maldives’ finest resorts, it’s not surprising that reviews for the Anantara Dhigu hotel are extremely positive. Most describe the setting as stunning and the rooms, particularly the overwater villas and suites, as huge and extremely well appointed.
Service also gets high marks, as does the food at the many restaurants at both adjoining resorts, though of course there are a few people who were disappointed in at least some aspects of their stay. Still, the Anatara Dhigu Resort deserves its reputation for excellence and it seems it almost always delivers.
