New overwater rooms

All together, there will be 86 overwater rooms and 28 land rooms either situated in a tropical garden or on the beach. In addition, guests will find a few double-story Presidential Suites, which also happen to be the only ones in the area.

As this is a rather large renovation project, guests will find new room categories added into the mix, some featuring plunge pools on a private deck and others featuring catamaran docks. Other new features include floor to ceiling sliding glass doors, new decks, open floor plans, new decor and new furnishings.

Resort features

The rooms aren’t the only part of the resort in the middle of an upgrade, as the entire resort is receiving a face lift. Some new features include a full service spa with eight different treatment rooms to enjoy, a fitness center, a Kids Club for those traveling in a family group, a mini golf course fit for all ages and a few retail spaces that hope to invite merchants to the resort for some fun island shopping.

Resort dining options

Dining options are also set to impress with a few different ones available, each offering a unique setting and view. Your first option will be a modern French Brasserie where you’ll find both breakfast and dinner alongside views of the lagoon. You’ll also find a Chinese restaurant, a beach restaurant serving a mixture of Polynesian and Mediterranean dishes and two different bars, one of which is situated above the water.

  1. Good afternoon from California, USA.
I’m looking to visit Maldives in August 2021. Can you please tell me the Covid-19 restrictions for Maldives resorts and are all resorts now opened for vacationing??

This will be a family vacation and what is a good recommendation for a family experience there at Maldives?

Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from you.

    1. Lorraine,

Maldives reopened its borders to tourists of all nationalities on 15th July 2020. There will be no further incoming travel restrictions to the country. So far there have been very few cases of COVID at any of the resorts and if you are vaccinated you should be fine.

For families I highly recommend Meeru Island, which is among the largest islands and the most affordable for all-inclusives. Since it’s a large island they also offer more pools and activities than most others as well. Have a great trip! -Roger

  2. We are considering a 10 week stay and are avid scuba diverstrying not to break the bank
We don’t need fancy we come for the diving. Any help would help. Where should we be looking for to be close to the diving?thanks Bob Hastings. 🌴🐋🦈😎

    1. Robert,

Ten weeks in the Maldives is an extremely long stay and I’m not aware of any diving resorts that cost less than US$3,000 per week. You might try Indonesia as they have great diving resorts at much more reasonable prices. -Roger
